Which Consumption Method is Best for Cannabis Concentrates?

Of the few methods to choose from when it comes to consuming marijuana, cannabis concentrates are growing in popularity, and for a good reason. While concentrates have been around for a while, they’re the cannabis option we get the most questions about here at Greeley Gallery.

So, we thought we’d answer the question we received the most about concentrates. Namely, which method is the best? The short answer is it depends. It comes down to you and what you’re aiming to experience during your high. In this article, we’ll discuss each one and you can decide for yourself which option is the best for you.

What is Cannabis Concentrate?

Before we talk about consumption methods, let’s discuss what cannabis concentrate is. Basically, cannabis concentrates result from distilling the cannabis plant to retain the desired compounds while eliminating the rest. In the end, the concentrate has more cannabinoids and terpenes than what you’ll find in dried cannabis flower – making the impact of consuming concentrate much stronger, too.

Concentrates come in various textures, from crumbly to waxy and are smoked or eaten. Like any other cannabis method, one way isn’t better than another. It all comes down to you and what you want. So, let’s take a look at the options.

Sprinkle On Top

If you’re already someone who smokes weed, then this choice might be best for you. All you do is sprinkle a little cannabis concentrate to your bowl or wrap some wax concentrate around a joint while you smoke. This is an easy way to elevate your high without the need for any fancy equipment.

If you haven’t consumed concentrates before, Greeley Gallery recommends beginning here. This is a great option to ease yourself into experiencing a more potent high, which can sometimes feel overwhelming if you’re not used to it. However, it’s also nice if you want just a bit more boost.

Dabbing

We’ve written about dab rigs before. They’re the typical go-to method for consuming cannabis concentrates. Dab rigs are kind of like bongs – they’re typically made of glass, and you light your cannabis with fire, then inhale the smoke or vapor. Except dab rigs are smaller, and instead of smoking cannabis flower, they’re used to smoke concentrates.

When dabbing, you place the concentrate on the dab’s nail, which is the equivalent to the bowl in a bong. You can use an ordinary lighter, but a small torch works better as it heats the concentrate at a higher temperature.

Some people prefer this method to smoking flower because the vapor is less harsh to inhale. Still, we recommend caution because the result is a stronger and faster-acting high than you’d get smoking cannabis flower. Depending on your tolerance levels, it’ll last longer too.

Vaping

This is an excellent option for anyone looking for a discrete option. Vape pens are easy to carry with you on the go and are an efficient way to consume cannabis. They’re also super easy to use with no lighters involved. All you do is press a button and inhale.

The result won’t give you as intense of a high as the first two options, but it does kick in just as fast. It’s nice when you just want a hit or two without committing to a full bowl, which allows for a more controlled experience.

Edibles

Last, but definitely not least, is edibles. We sell plenty of delicious edible options at our marijuana dispensary in North Portland, but sometimes, it’s fun to make your own. Incorporating cannabis concentrates into your brownie mix is an easy way to make your dessert adult friendly. The best part is there’s no need to decarboxylate your weed since it’s already done for you and has easy-to-read measurements, which makes dosage simpler.

However, unlike the previous options, it takes more time before feeling the effects of an edible. Often it can take up to two hours, sometimes longer, before the onset of your high. So, make sure to wait before consuming more. Once it does kick in, you can expect a long-lasting experience.

Which is Best for You?

There’s no wrong answer when it comes to consuming cannabis concentrates. All you have to do is decide what you want from the experience. Using a dab rig might be the way to go if your goal is to spend the day binging Netflix, whereas an edible might be better for a hike in Forest Park.

Whatever you decide, Greeley Gallery has your back. We offer only the highest quality concentrate products available, along with your choice of dab rigs and other glassware. Our friendly staff will even walk you through how to use them.
